November Favorites // 'Tis the Season!

Happy Monday, friends! I’m back at it again with my my next monthly favorites post - and it’s another pretty festive one! ‘Tis the season to be jolly! As soon as Halloween is over, I always want to start getting in the Christmas spirit right away and begin decking out my home with Christmas decor. Trust me… I would start on November 1st. However, I really really love fall and try to savor it for as long as I can during the month of November. This favorites post will have a bit of Christmas cheer sprinkled in, as the Christmas spirit was running deep through my veins before the month was over. Keep reading to see the top 10 things I loved during the month of November!

1. Festive Twinkle Lights
I found these fun, festive twinkle lights from Home Goods for just a few bucks and am so in love with them! They don’t have to be plugged in and are just connected to a tiny little power box that only requires one AA battery, which could easily be tucked away underneath my desk. It has a small power switch to turn it on and off (it can be put on a static setting or a twinkle setting). It’s really just a simple strand of twinkle lights, but adds such a cozy, festive touch to my desk!

2. Fuzzy Boots
How amazing are these boots?! They’re from TJ Maxx and one of the warmest, coziest pair of boots I’ve ever owned. The inside is lined with faux fur so they are soooo warm! They have a small heel on them, but are still very comfortable to walk around in. I get tons of compliments any time I wear them and they will be a statement piece to add to any outfit. I couldn’t find the exact ones online, but linked a similar pair below!

3. Ornament Pillow
The perfect piece to deck the halls! This plush velvet Christmas ornaments accent pillow from Kirkland’s is such a festive new addition to my Christmas decor. I’ve had the other two pillows for a few years - the plaid one is from Michael’s and the reindeer one is from At Home. It bring such a pop of colorful cheer to my living room!

4. Christmas Doormat
Another score from Kirkland’s! This doormat is amazing. My roommate and I are completely OBSESSED with Christmas so as soon as I saw it… I knew we needed it. I love the font/hand lettering and colorful little strand of lights!

5. ‘Oh What Fun’ Mug
I recently added this adorable, festive mug from TJ Maxx to my Christmas mug collection! It was only $2.99 - TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and Home Goods always have the BESTTTT deals on cute, festive mugs! It’s very simple, but I love the look of the gold lettering on the solid red background.

6. USB Adapter with HDMI Port
Most of the newer MacBooks do not have ports for USB drives or memory cards. This adapter is awesome because it has ports for USB drives, a memory card, and an HDMI cord. Connecting the adapter to an HDMI cord is such a game changer because a laptop or iPad/tablet can be hooked up to a TV for a giant study screen display! Since it is the season to be jolly, if I didn’t have one of my study guides up on the TV, then I put on a YouTube video with a festive, cozy Christmas scene that plays two hours of the best Christmas songs!

7. Badge Reel
I scored this schnazzy EKG badge reel at the end of the summer right before the semester started. It’s from Amazon and came in a pack of three - I kept one for myself and gifted the other ones to two of my friends/fellow PT students. My clinical rotation this past semester was in acute care, so it was perfect for that setting and I always got so many compliments on it!

8. White Coat Clipboard (Physical Therapy Edition)
I’m so in love with this clipboard! It’s the perfect little handy tool to keep with you during class or at the clinic and includes essential reference information for both outpatient and inpatient settings. Here’s some of the things it includes: ROM, MMT, myotomes, RPE, BMI, bony landmarks, lab values, CVA impairments based on location, spinal cord injury classification, Glasgow Coma Scale, Rancho Los Amigos Scale, Berg Balance Scale, Tinetti Balance Test, Modified Ashworth Scale, and so much more!

9. Music
This is some of the music I am loving right now. In preparation for the happiest season of all, I have been playing Michael Buble’s deluxe special edition Christmas album non-stop. I’ve also included my top favorite songs that I just cannot seem to stop playing on repeat!

10. Notability App
I’ve talked about how much I love this app in a few different posts now, but just had to include it in this favorites post too. I’ve had this app since I started PT school and it is such a fantastic way to keep all of my notes and lectures organized. You can import lecture slides or full PowerPoints, documents, pictures, drawings, audio, videos, and web pages AND write/draw directly on any of these different items. My most successful study strategy right now is making my own study guides and importing them into Notability - then taking additional notes directly on the study guide after going back and re-listening to the recorded lecture. I have a folder for each semester i.e. fall 2019 and within each semester folder, I add subject dividers within each folder for all of my classes. Notability also has a split-screen feature that allows you to look at two different resources at one time. This app is literally a lifesaver and I seriously could not imagine PT school without it. I included it in this post because although I’ve had it for a while now, I’ve appreciated it so so much this past month with the crazy amount of assignments, projects, and studying I had to do. In addition to note-taking/organizing, it’s a great tool for me to sign and turn in documents or have other students or professors sign documents and assessments directly on my iPad. I cannot recommend it enough!!
